Why Does My 5s Keep Switching To Headphones After Port Replacement?

Hello,

I am posting this question to ask how to fix a problem with my oud speaker/headphone jack, which arose after replacing the charger port (everything included).

PROBLEM:

When playing sound from the loud speaker, it will randomly switch to headphones while there are none in, leaving me with no sound. I have to fiddle with screws near the charger port to get the loud speaker to work again, but it is only temporary. Very temporary, maybe a minute at most. Or if I use headphones (which do work) and unplug them, volume works for a second.

Any & all help/suggestions are appreciated!!

Could it be installed incorrectly? Or just faulty equipment?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Faulty part. Can't think of any other reason.

If you unplug the charging dock assembly, does the headphone jack switching issue still occur?

I had a similar problem where my 5 would say that headphones were connected even if they were not. What I did to fix my problem was take a q-tip and take nearly all the cotton off. I then put it into the headphone jack a few times and when it got to the end 'pushed' a little further till I felt a 'click'. That fixed it for me though I'm not certain it will work for you.

Anyways, hope this helps and if not then @ben is most probably right.

Okay so what I did was jam a headphone jack into the jack hole, loosen the screws, jam it in further until the cord was flush with the phone, then tighten.

Hopefully the volume will stay this time!

because your new port sucks. Buy a broken iPhone of the same type, storage does not matter, and then switch over the apple genuine headphone jack from busted phone to yours. make sure phone is same color. If there is any adhesive on the cable, REPLACE IT. 300lse by 3m should do the trick.

This will magically restore your device to apple-genuine condition.

Trust me, the q tip trick does nothing, and will just get a bunch of hair stuck up the jack, ruining it. I've done it before.

The new port honestly is quite good. I think it was just installed incorrectly.

After forcing a jack in, and retightening the screws for the jack it seemed to fix the problem. Has been fine for 20 minutes now so hopefully it wont muck up again!
