Why is my LCD Replacement Screen not working correctly?

I am a very tech savy person, formally worked with what used to be Compaq computers. I had a cracked screen and purchased a replacement and upon initial boot the screen worked correctly. Then after putting the computer to sleep and waking it the next morning, the screen no longer works. All I get is a bunch of colors and lines and no readable windows or text. I can barely tell there is something in the background but it is completely unusable now. The external display output works just fine.

Any ideas? Is it just a defective screen? Weird that it worked at first though.

Since the external monitor works properly I would suggest you recheck all your connections to the LCD. You are correct I believe in that the problem is with either the data cable from the logic board or the screen itself. Just to be on the safe side however since you put the unit to sleep I would try the old standby's of resetting the SMC and PRAM first. Link provided.

+ If you put it to sleep by closing the top, then I would definitely suspect the connection wires and/or connections

I have exactly the same symptoms. Have you resolved the issue? I use to have chimei lcd model N154C6-L01 and replaced it with N154C6-L02. In my case I guess it is the compatibility of the lcd. I also tried the SMC and PRAM reset, but it did not work.
