h1313e23, Your GE manual tells you to use, recognized manufacturers such as San Disk,Panasonic and Toshiba SD card are recommended for your A730. Try these cards to see if problem corrects. I believe pg.63 in manual, also talk of some kind of protect/unprotected setting that may have something to do with it. 1 800 730 6597 from manual, is the GE contact # where you can also possibly find solution.

Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck.

I use scan disk SD cards and only those as I have had problems with other kinds. Also I could not find any thing in my manual on page 63 or any other page that said anything about protect/unprotected setting in it.

If it's not a file system issue, it might be a physical issue with the camera. Have you checked inside the card slot to make sure nothing may have gotten in? SD cards rely on a physical write-protect mechanism (the little switch on the side isn't connected to anything electronic: see this image by Saltmiser on Wikipedia), so the protection is usually handled on the device itself. Typically this is done with a little lever or switch to detect the position of the SD card's plastic tab, so check if something inside the reader is causing it to stick or holding it down. Hope this helps!
