Mac won´t boot. Shuts down half through the load

Hi.

Got an MacBook that won´t start. It starts to load, but half way through it shuts down (or the screen goes white and all the fans starts to work full speed)

The mac was upgraded with an SSD about a year ago..

I´ve tried this:

- Took out the SSD and connected it to my iMac. Got the message that it could not be repaired. So I formated it.

- I have a USB with OS X installer. The mac won´t boot from that either. Goes with half way trough.

- Tried Command - R but that won´t work either.

First see if it will boot in Safe Mode.

Most likely a hard drive/IR cable issue. I adopt the 2012 cable to fix it.

Was the old hard drive failing?

Will try that.

I did disconnect the hard drive/IR cable and started it with the USB (OS x installer). Should that work?

Well, that pretty well narrows it down. Did it boot in Safe Mode?

Does not boot in safe mode.

The first hard drive (original one) was failing. So it was replaced with a SSD about a year ago.

That pretty well gets it down to that cable. Take a look at what Apple did and the difference between the 2010 cable and the 2012 cable. On some macs the hard drive bracket has to be broken off as the bar that retains the upper righthand side of the hard drive interfere with the 2012 cable. I also put pads on either side of the cable to prevent the bottom from hitting it when I replace them.

Thanks. Will try a new cable.

But, wouldn´t the mac boot to the USB-stick when the cable is disconnected from the logic board?
