Will Hard Drive upgrade void my Protection Plan

I have a year left on my Protection Plan. If I install a new hard drive myself, will this void my Protection Plan

Apple does not identify this as a User Replaceable part, so if they see that you made the replacement yourself, they COULD legitimately deny you coverage for any problems thereafter.

This is my understanding, also. Apple does not mind people doing their own repairs, as long as they don't damage anything in the process.
