Hi,

Go to the apps page in your tablet and open the Explorer app.

In Explorer you can check and manage files in the SD Card, Internal memory and a USB stick (the USB stick needs to be connected via a OTG cable to be recognised and connected).

Select the file or file path.

Press and hold the file or file path for over 2 seconds and an option box will open.

You can perform the functions and also manage the files in the options list

You can also move your downloaded apps to the SD card to free up space in the internal storage area. Be aware though that not all apps can be moved and that if you do move them then the SD Card needs to stay in the tablet for the app to work. (The not being able to be moved problem is due to the app developer not setting the permissions which allow this when the app was created). By default all downloaded apps are installed in the internal storage area.

To check if you can move your downloaded apps go to Settings then scroll down to Apps (or Apps Management ) then scroll across to downloaded (see image below)

Then working down the list, one at a time, tap each entry and see if there is an option of 'Move to SD card' available. If so tap the option and follow the prompts. If it is 'greyed out' the option is not available for that app.

I followed all the steps and got to the point of apps management, not one of the files gives option of moving to sd card. Is there something I'm doing wrong or do I need to delete the file, reinstall and try moving?

Hi,

Hi the move to SD card for apps is different than for moving files e.g. pictures to the SD card.

Didn't the 'Explorer' app allow you to move files to the SD card?

Below is how to move downloaded apps (not user files) to the SD card to free up space.

Check that in your phone that the SD card storage area is not called by another name.

If you go to Settings > Apps management and swipe left across the screen then there should be tabs at the top indicating state of apps 'Downloaded , then perhaps 'running', ALL and there hopefully should be one more. On some phones it is known as SD card but it may have another title as in my phone it is called 'Phone Storage' or it may be something similar

Try going back to the Downloaded apps section and see if there is an option to move to that particular named storage area.

You could also go to Settings > Storage and enter there and see what the two storage areas are known as . Again in my phone it is known as Internal Storage (which is obvious) and Phone Storage (which is actually the SD card storage) and then go back to apps management and see if the option to move to that name is there.
