If I replace the home button, will the fingerprint sensor work?

Hi,

if I replace the fingerprint sensor/home button on a Samsung Galaxy s6 would I still be able to use the fingerprint function to unlock it or are they like Apple and have them paired to the chip?

Ive been searching everywhere and some say you can and some say you can't. I run my own repair business and have got a s6 with a broken screen to do and I was going to get the screen with frame and buttons already glued to it but was unsure of the fingerprint sensor. If it doesn't work with a replacement home button sensor, I'll get the screen on it's own.
