step 12 and 13 gives you a close up. I suggest you take it apart to find out more.

You have to remove the logic board and then remove the dock connector by de-soldering the 30 pin connector. And also desolder the 2 side anchor points. And then reorder the new connector on. The job is very tedious. We charge around $65 in case you were shopping around for a repair place. See my profile to get in contact with me.
