Sound Delay after firmware upgrade to 2.0.97

This seems to be a very common problem, looking into the logitech forum thread here and is seemingly also affecting the original UE Boom:

After updating the speaker to the current firmware version of 2.0.97 the speaker has a delay of about half a second in sound playback. This is not an issue while playing music, but in the case of videos it is quite upsetting. The issue persists on all available devices to me, testing different video players, games, etc. The delay is present no matter what.

I honestly hope that UE / Logitech will fix the problem soon, but I am not sure when this is going to happen. Because of this, I am posting my problem here in the hope to find someone with a solution or temporary workaround.

Note that it is seemingly not possible to revert the firmware, what would be the easiest fix. Also a reset of the speaker has no effect on the problem.

Hey,

I never received an answer from Logitech / UE regarding the issue...

Haven't installed the update yet, but if it fixes something for me I'll let you know.

In the official thread of the Logitech forum, reseting the UE Boom by holding the minus button and power on for approx. 10 seconds, fixed the issue for some people. This was no fix for me, but maybe after the update... Hope still remains.

Today I got an e-mail from UE-Support, which is actually the second (the first being some standard "have you tried switching it off an on again"-text). They admitted, it is a firmware issue and told me, that there is a new update available. The first update after the "incident" of upgrade 2.0.97 did nothing for me, so I hope the new one will fix it for good. I will report back, if this changes anything for me.

Update (12/13/2016)

So... They released update 2.0.101 and it actually worked for me in Bluetooth mode.

However, reading the UE Boom thread on the delay issue, the delay still seems to be present when using a cable connection.

So to sum it up, 2.0.97 broke it, 2.0.100 did nothing and 2.0.101 fixed at least the bluetooth delay issue.

Since my Boom 2 is working for me now, I would close this question as answered and recommend you to install the latest update.

Latest firmware update fixed the delay issue for my speaker. Now i can watch videos and the audio is in sync.

  • Before the update, my phone & tablet had trouble connecting to the speaker.
  • When it did connect, while watching videos there will be no audio and the video will buffer for no real reason. When not connected to speaker, video plays normally.

Thought I'll let yall know.

They still haven't fix it before Thanksgiving, but I assume they will release the fix someday next week! At least I hope...

I bought the BOOM 2 two days ago and came to know about this yesterday. This issue is really disappointing at this price point. Just want to know from older users - Did this happen before the update in BOOM 2?

No, before updating to 2.0.97 everything was fine, at least for me. Sound was synchronized with the played media and I did not experience any lag.

Spanish: Tengo el mismo problema con cuatro altavoces, 2 - Boom 2's y 2 - Mega Boom's que empleo para amplificar guitarras españolas en la academia.

Espero solucion de Logitech.

English: I have the same problem with four speakers: 2 - Boom 2's & 2 - Mega Boom's that I use to amplify Spanish guitars in the academy.

I hope Logitech has a solution soon!

2.0.101 kills the battery charge. Got a Boom 2 last week and since updating on first launch, battery has been stuck at 20% but falsely reporting 100% until a hard reset is performed, at which it goes back to 20% for all of 10 minutes of charging, at which it falsely says 100% again.

UE Megaboom user here, 2 speakers, lag present ( on iOS ) when in stereo mode bluetooth with 2 speakers with latest firmware as of Dec 2017 ( tried older firmware 1.5.71 and lag was reduced I think but still too annoying, but it had other issues and bugs and features missing ), it feels a tiny bit laggy with just one speaker but two is impossible to watch video, I think I'll have to wait for portable Airplay 2.0 devices for this to really work, does any brand support 2 wireless portable speakers in stereo without lag in video? I mean I expect lag but airplay does a sync so the video delays itself by the same amount making it all appear in sync.

Megaboom 2 - Delay and all the reverse firmware isn't compatible with this larger model. I depend on the cable for jamming on my guitar with, i'm never going to support logitechs products again, as essentially i paid $270 for this speaker, and their incompetence has ruined it! Any ideas are welcome guys and girls.

Dear Chris, Ben, Doug, Franck, Réception Lausanne,

I received a call from Ana at Logitech customer support today. She explained that she had been in touch with the "engineering team" at UE and that you would not be fixing the auxiliary input delay issue.

This is outrageous.

I asked her if this is because you cannot fix it, or because you are unwilling to fix it. She said she did not know.

Either way, the situation is made all the more SCANDALOUS since you REFUSE TO WARN ANY CUSTOMERS ABOUT THIS ISSUE. You have 2 opportunities to warn people – before sale, and before updating the firmware.

But you have not done ANYTHING.

This behaviour as people, and as a company is despicable. Why will you not ACKNOWLEDGE the problem, and stop DECEIVING your customers? It would NOT BE HARD for you to put a warning in the app to say that updating the firmware will create audio latency in the auxiliary input. It would also not be difficult at all to make a succinct note about this on your product website. BUT INSTEAD, you choose to DELIBERATELY MISLEAD EVERY SINGLE CUSTOMER WHO EVER BUYS A UE SPEAKER. This is absolutely callous and dishonest on your part and you should all be thoroughly ashamed of yourselves.

I have brought this issue well and truly to your attention, and all you have done in the end is to make **** EXCUSES and explain how you DON'T CARE AND YOU WON'T DO ANYTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM YOU HAVE MADE.

Well, I have no respect for people who act like this, who lie to customers and who do not take responsibility for their mistakes. I don't care how busy you are. THIS PROBLEM AND THIS DISHONESTY should be your NUMBER ONE PRIORITY TO RECTIFY.

Any more news on the aux-in delay for UE Boom speakers?

I'm running the latest firmware and it's impossible to play guitar due to this delay.

I own a £12 Chinese speaker which performs this simple role, with no delay!

Having the Same issue on firmware 2.1.107. I tried to set the boom up to my turntables (with aux of course) and the input lag makes it useless in this context. I really hope this is a thing they are going to fix or add the setting to minimize input lag. But seeing how many people still have it I started to lose hope...

Any one have any solution?

Lurked around a little and couldn't really find a way to downgrade the firmware.

Currently using UE Boom 2 speaker version 2.2.1 and yet music seems to delay, skip, stop, cram all the sounds every now and then.
