Beer spill, battery & ssd shot
I dismantled & cleaned everything. There was sticky flow residue running from left side of logic board from vent down to battery. Slight greenish corrosion on keyboard backlight terminal, but otherwise looked in decent shape. None of the moisture damage indicators have turned red on the logic board, but the battery PCB is bright red & won't charge nor run from battery. She won't boot from the SSD, but will boot from an external drive. SSD gets immediately too hot to touch, and the fan runs at max velocity. Also, the fan won't run w/ SSD removed. My DIY dilemma is determining whether the PCIe circuit has been compromised. I don't want to install a replacement SSD if there's a possibility of frying another drive. Anyone able to test if fan starts at boot w/o SSD? Not an electronics guy & having brain pain from trying to decipher schematic. Lots of nearly microscopic stuff in there. Sheesh!
Is this a good question?

Thanks Reece. I was afraid to plug a new SSD in until I determined the logic board was ok. Now my only issue is the battery. She won't start from battery, and will immediately boot when magsafe connector is engaged. The light on the magsafe connector is first green, and, after a few seconds, turns to amber. The battery is recognized by the system & the menu bar icon indicates charging w/ 47% power. Battery condition is "Replace Now". I'm guessing the battery PCB is bad, or the whole battery assembly is shot, Are there ways to troubleshoot this & can this status be reset.
Thanks a million

Glad the SSD sorted it. The green>amber light on the charger is normal. The battery will need replacing, the PCB for this is attached to the battery itself.
Get a long, flat painting knife, and you can carefully slide it underneath, while dipping it in isopropyl to help loosen the tape. Be careful though, if the battery is punctured, it is dangerous.
If you haven't done this before, might be best to buy the whole palmrest with keyboard, battery and trackpad. Make sure you buy for 2015, batteries are different.
