"Auto Wash" selected regardless of cycle pressed

I have a maytag dishwasher with the buttons on the front. We usually run normal wash, heated dry off due to the number of plastic/kids dishes we have. Now every time I try to start the dishwasher by pushing "Normal" it turns on "auto Clean" with "Rinse only" and "steam/sanitize" selected. I can't get it to select "normal." I have power cycled the dishwasher multiple times. Thanks in advance for any advice.

Resetting the dishwasher control can sometimes solve the issues you are experiencing. To reset the dishwasher control panel, it needs to be disconnected from the power source for one minute. If your dishwasher is plugged into an outlet, simply unplug the unit for one minute and then plug the unit back in. If the dishwasher is hard wired to the power supply, turn the breaker off at the home electrical panel that powers the dishwasher for one minute and then turn the breaker back on.

I've done this three times. It is this exact combo. I even let it sit unplugged overnight. I'm an electronics tech, but can't find anything about this series of codes. I'm thinking board defect at this point.

Shutting it off at the electrical panel (multiple times) has not worked for me either...

Open it…close it till it clicks closed.

Push the rinse button 5 Times in succession. Then the Cancel/Drain off button 2 Times.

This should reset so you can choose your own settings.

It didn't work on mine either.

I have the same problem. I wait a few days push start and it works. I push normal it goes to auto. I have shut the fuse off wait . I have done everything that was mentioned. It works when it wants to and the cycle it prefers.

When it does work it’s great!

Didn't work on mine either. I do agree with the previous poster that sometimes it works - and it works great when it does - but it is frustrating beyond words when it doesn't.

This worked for me, but...since my Thermador dishwasher is newer, it doesn't have a cancel/drain button. I tried the start button instead and...it worked!! I should add that I didn't close it 'til it clicks closed, as instructed, but I followed the button sequence.

It seems like I need to replace the buttons strip/panel based on research I've done.
