Can I update a 2007 MacBook to work with the new OS?

Hi everyone,

I've used ifixit a couple times to replace my hard drive and fan and I love it.

I own a mid 2007 MacBook and I'm wondering if there's anyway I can still update it to be able to run the current OS and apps.

I know I would need to upgrade the RAM since I only have 512 MB right now...but would I also need a full logicboard replacement? A bit of a beginner at this, any advice appreciated, since the cost of a new Mac right now is so high, I'm wondering if I can keep this one going! I'm also attached to this Mac which is so much easier to open up and fix than the newer models.

According to this source you can update to the OS Version Mac OS X 10.7 Lion but not any further.

I think a lot of apps will run on it. But you would have to look.

I have also got an old Mac about 2007 and I use it with office and web browsing very fine.
