Dropped in toilet, iPhone switches off randomly.

I have an iPhone 3GS, I accidentally dropped it in water. It didn't stayed in water for more than 3 secs. I tried drying it in all crazy ways possible.

But it started acting weirdly soon after that, it acts exactly as mentioned by Timothy. my iPhone randomly switches off and cannot get charged above 5%.

I believe it is a battery issue, but I want an expert's opinion.

Please guide me.

Thanks.

Like previous answers... Open the phone when it's off and clean thoroughly with isopropyl alcohol. Change the battery and see what happens. You may also need to change the dock if no joy from cleaning and new battery.

Thanks,

I have ordered a new battery from iFixit. waiting for it.

will do that. Let's just hope no dock changing is required!

I know it sounds crazy, but it worked for my coworker. Place the Iphone in a bag of uncooked rice overnight. Recharge and it should turn on.

you're right it can work! the problem is that corrosion is still taking place and any urea/uric acid/urine (call it what you like!) has been inside that phone... any bacteria found in the bladder is now multiplying in a nice warm environment.not a pleasant thought when you consider the close contact of phone and face? it's also eating away at the components.

so yes as temporary fix drying a wet phone in rice works but it will not prevent damage you can't see, nor is it an hygienic option.
