Swap SSDs between a Mid 2014 and Mid 2015 rMBP

I currently have a 512gb SSD in my late 2014 MacBook Pro (13") and I was thinking about changing laptops to a late 2015 MacBook Pro (15"). So I was wondering if I could swap the SSD around just so I can keep my 512gb and possibly my files. Both SSDs are the original Apple components.

Am ok with using time machine to keeps my files if I have to wipe one or both drives, but I was wondering if there are any things I should double check before attempting to do this?

Hi

I would start with backup up the files just in case.

The SSD seams to be the same size 2280 so there it should work but since other hardware in the laptops can have changed the new 15" might not start up properly. Very dependent on which drivers are installed on both computers. Since there are newer hardware on the 2015 model it might come to problems there but if the OS starts it might get the missing drivers from the net. I would try it, sometimes it can work other times it does not. But if it works it saves you a lot of time.

Wish you good luck.
