Why does my touchscreen sometimes not detect a touch?

Sometimes areas of the screen will fail to respond to touch. When the device was new, the screen always sensed a touch. What is going on?

While many causes are possible, it sounds like your display may need to be cleaned. A touchscreen covered with oil and dirt from your fingers can struggle to detect input, especially in areas where the contaminants are heavily concentrated. So, use a lint-free microfiber cloth to clean your touchscreen, and try to use the device with clean hands in the future.
