Hi @j98 ,

Yes, you must install that bracket. If you do not, the button may not activate at all, or you may damage the cable for that button which would result in Touch ID never working again on the device.

Order this bracket.

Thanks!

ok great i actually fun ti thank u .... one more question though do i need all 6 screws for along the sides of the metal plate?

So, technically, the answer would be yes. But practically speaking the answer is no. Also, if you are unsure which screw went where, be very careful - you may cause board level damage to your device if you place the wrong screw in the wrong spot.

Yes, those screws are what keeps the screen attached to the phone. If you are missing one or two, leave out the middle ones.

Pro tip: Next time you work on your phone, grab a magnet of some kind. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, a fridge magnet from the local pizza joint is fine. Stick your metal screws and brackets to the magnet so that you don't lose them.

I use some super cheap, 50 for $5 magnets. I stick the screws for the display bracket on one magnet and the screws for the display on another. That way I never lose screws and I keep the screws grouped together so I don't use the wrong ones.
