7th gen iPod classic drive fit in a thick 6th gen classic?

Ive got a broken logic board 7th gen thin iPod classic 160gb and have just got hold of 6th gen thick iPod classic 160gb that crashes when in use which i think is the hard drive.

Can the thinner 7th gen hard drive fit into the thicker 6th generation classic? does it need some passing or something to not move about?

The hard drive will connect and work, but you would want to make sure it's secure. If it keeps moving around inside, it could fail prematurely. Some kind of foam or rubber padding should do the trick.

thank you, ill try that if you think it will work fine. Shame I'm going thicker, but I prefer my chances with that rather than moving the gen 6 board into the thinner gen 6 case
