Blu Ray Not Accepting Disk

PS4 not accepting or ejecting disks. Drive still recognizes disks while using manual eject screw and will play them. Swapped for identical Blu Ray drive and it is exactly the same. Still wont accept or eject disks but can play using manual eject. Also, I rebuilt the database and updated the system. Did not initialize. Totally got me stumped...

What does the ribbon cable look like that goes from the motherboard to the disc drive?

All are in perfect condition. Ive found that if I put a functional blu ray drive in with a new PCB, it will eject and take discs. It's not married tho, so the games wont play. What I'm wondering now, is if the PCB has internal memory. A new PCB and Blu Ray drive fixed the eject issue. Then I used the existing PCB from the console & new Blu Ray drive which then still wouldnt eject or take discs, I think that the issue may be a bad PCB. At first I thought, maybe if I initialize the PS4, that may solve it. After realizing that the issue is coming down to the PCB board, I have doubts now. UNLESS, the PCB has an internal memory and needs to be wiped, which I would only know from initializing. If thats not the case, initializing and wiping the HDD will do nothin. The bad signal is not coming from the HDD/motherboard since it worked with a new PCB and drive but not with a new drive and original PCB. All I need to know is if the PCB has some sort of internal memory that could/may have become corrupt at some point.

That's some good testing and diagnosis you've done. Usually in this case I would take the large square chip on the underside of the PCB and swap it onto another PCB that has the same 3 digit code on it. In most cases this has gotten them working for me. It's not a 100% for sure fix but it will fix this type of problem most of the time.

Hope this helps.

My soldering skills are seriously lacking. I dont even know if I could trust myself. Is it a difficult job? Link to a video perhaps?

It's difficult if you don't know how to do it or don't have the tools or experience. I don't know of a video of anyone doing it or else I would gladly link to it. The easiest way is with a hot air station.
