I removed the screen completely, can i still connect to computer without screen?

Assuming that everything else is in working order, you should have no problem plugging in an iPhone with no screen to iTunes.

I tried an iPhone 6 without screen plugged into charger and it just loops with the charging sound meaning it crashes shortly after boot and keeps looping.

So no you can't boot the phone successfully without a screen on iPhone 6.

Error 4005 or 4014 is a hint that there is a problem with the NAND Flash memory.

Maybe there is a cold solder from the hard drop event, so that you cannot restore it.
