Why does my iPhone work only when it's plugged in?

Hi all,

Recently had the screen of an iPhone 6s replaced after a drop. Now, the phone functions perfectly when plugged in but moments after I take it off charge, it will shut off. Both cameras are not working either.

When I place it back on charge, it will either boot loop until it has enough charge to turn on and display a low battery percentage (i.e. 5%). Alternatively it will turn straight back on and display the percentage that it shut off at (regardless of the number). I've taken it in to a repair shop for diagnostics and have been quoted a rear camera and battery replacement.

It's out of warranty so no chance of apple. What's the likely cause/fix of this, and is the suggestion by the repair shop appropriate?

Cheers in advance.

Download Coconut Battery App onto your computer. You will then be able to take a good look at the condition of your battery by selecting the iOS option when the phone is plugged in:

UPDATE

You know if you do the repair yourself, the parts are the quality you pay for. You don't have to worry if the battery has been switched or if the shop didn't plug in your camera. The guides are really excellent. You gain knowledge, never have to pay some one else, get a great feeling of accomplishment, and learn that, most of the time, on simple repairs and more complicated ones, there are good people willing to help you here for nothing.

I'm suspecting both the battery and camera ic to be faulty.

I wonder why there isn't a windows version of coconut battery.

I've used a similar program and the battery 'rating' came out pretty poor. I was wondering perhaps if it was something more than the battery i.e. battery connector. Thanks for your help

Thanks Mayer. Under normal circumstances, I would as I always look to tinker and have a project on the go however at this moment in time, getting it serviced by a professional is the more feasible method.
