LCD ribbon lockdown device.

The lock that secures the ribbon (the plastic flap) broke off while trying to pry it up.

Will it work without the lock?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

You could try to place teflon tape on top of the ribbon before plugging it in to try to allow the pins in the female connector to touch the lcd flex. Other wise you would need to send that out for service.

Otherwise you'll need to have it repaired professionally. I have had great experience with this ebay based business:

thank you, it worked. Now I am back to the original problem. as soon as I hit the main power button all I get is a picture of a battery for about 2 or 3 seconds and them it flashes once and goes blank.

Sounds like that is a charger issue, try a new cable and brick. If that doesn't work then it is more than likely the battery.
