vertical line on left side of tv and pixelated noise all.

Hi,

I have a samsung smart tv UN40ES6100FXZC, 5 years old that just started showing a vertical line on the right side of the screen and general pixelated noise throughout the screen. This only seems to be happening on HDMI input. When I loadup the Smart Hub screen, it looks normal.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

@iain not quite sure what you are referring to as pixelated noise. Post an image of what your screen looks like with your question. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. It will allow us to see what you see.

Hi, Have you tried a different HDMI cable or port on the TV? What is the source of the HDMI signal? Can you connect the HDMI source to a different TV and see if the problem still exists?

Hi, I'll attach an image when I get home tonight.

I'm getting the same result when I plug in my PC to the HDMI port and when I plug in my receiver (it has a wallpaper that comes up when the radio is on) I have tried 2 different HDMI cables so I'm pretty convinced its a TV problem and not a source problem.

Hi, Have you got more than 1 HDMI port on the TV to try? If so does it happen on all of them or only the one?

by

Hi, I've tried 2 HDMI ports in the back and both give the same result. Its just wierd that the picture is fine when I use the Smart Hub (for Netflix). It only seems to be an issue when I use the HDMI ports

Sounds like the AV (Audio Video Board) is failing. Removed the rear panel and replacing that should resolve your issue. You could also try to reseat the connections to the AV board (unplugging them and plugging them back in). When removing the aluminum rear panel use protective gloves since the edges of the aluminum is ofter very sharp. You can cut your hand easily without protection.

Here is the board you may need to replace:

NOTE: The power supply on TV's have capacitors that can cause electrical shock. Always unplug your device prior to servicing it.

actually yes, that looks alot like the pixeled noise I was talking about. Would this also address the small vertical line I have on the right side of the screen (other threads seem to suggest vertical lines are t-con boards)

I just got home and turned on the TV and everything looks like its back to normal for whatever reason. I'll keep an eye on it over the next little while and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestions everyone :)
