What can be done to keep my CD-Rom working in Windows 10?

I updated my Satellite C655D-S5303 laptop to Windows 10. Because it is an old, discontinued model, the CD-Rom driver does not update but when Windows does the updates and it stops working. I can use system restore to go back to dates before the update was done and get it working, but that only lasts until the next update and Microsoft has fixed it so we can't prevent the updates now. Is there a driver that I can install which would not keep having that problem? When I did a recovery of the Windows 10, it did work for awhile, so I know it is not faulty. I would attach screenshots of the messages I get but you don't have an upload link.

Answer this question I have this problem too

Use this tool to Hide and block Certain or all updates from installing it shows a list of all current updates.

--You can also set your internet connection to "Metered" for updates, this will prevent all updates downloading forever * On that network* until you turn it off. even if you shut off your pc
