How do I change a stater plug under the dash for heater?

The heater motor quite working.I replaced fuses all of them and nothing. Auto parts said stater under dash.bouhgt stater pulled apart end of plug was melted,burnt. Do you have to cut the wires to splice it?..

Ed, If you are referring to the blower motor resistor and you found the plug and wire on the old resistor melted then yes, you will have to cut out damage portion and splice/connect a new plug and wires. This is a very common issue with GM's blower motor resistor and plug/wires. This problem is so common, normally if you go to buy the resistor, the plug comes with the resistor. If the plug did not come as a package with your resistor return to parts store and get the correct plug. May be a good idea to take a picture of wires on old plug before cutting any wires to aid in reassembly and unhook battery. Links below are similar to the the repair you will have to do and may help.
