How to replace the stock hard drive with apple certified SSHD?

Hello,

thanks for a really good resource of info about apple products. I found this iMac Intel 27" EMC 2429 Hard Drive Replacement

My question is simple. I don't want to heat my iMac and hear it roaring. So if I buy this seagate https://eshop.macsales.com/item/Seagate/...

and follow your guide is it gonna work smoothly ?

Thanks

For either you'll need this: OWC In-line Digital Thermal Sensor for iMac 2011 Hard Drive Upgrade. I don't recommend using software over-rides as time has proven they don't work as well and if misused damage your system.

Dan hi, I found out that I have the mid-2010 iMac. It means I need the termal sensor cable for 2010, right ? like that one https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/DIDI...

Correct! You'll need the 2010 version.

I also corrected your posting so it now reflects the correct model. Here's the IFIXIT guide you'll need to follow: iMac Intel 27" EMC 2390 Hard Drive Replacement

I would go with the latest the system can support - macOS Sierra 10.12.x
