Ipad 4 shows apple logo but then turns off? and repeats...
Hi, I'd appreciate any advice...
My nephew threw the iPad like a frisbee, shattered the glass and bent up the top right corner where the power button is. Amazingly the iPad still worked, so I thought it worth, replacing the back metal housing, the screen and the power button (as this was also bent). Basically, I was going to move the entire innards into a new housing - the lcd by the way was fine.
On taking out the battery, I damaged the back of it due to the amount of adhesive there was. I also found that the tiny bracket that holds the power button and ribbon to the inside of the plastic power button that is visible externally, was bend and snapped when taking it out.
So I bought a new digitiser, a new battery and a new volume and power ribbon (with the brackets attached). All fitted with out issues, all ribbons undamaged and all correctly plugged into their appropriate sockets.
I'm now left with a new looking iPad 4!....but I can't get it working. Plugged into the mains, the apple logo appears for a few seconds, then it turns off....and a second letter, it repeats. and this goes on. I've tried dfu/recovery and I've tried plugging it into iTunes but nothing seems to work. Following some other advice on one of the forums, I opened it back up and disconnected the board from the battery, left it for 30 mins and then reconnected and put it all back together, checking the ribbons and plugs again. The issue is still there and the iPad unusable. I'd be very grateful for any advice on what I can consider next....I'm not really keen on buying any further parts as I simply don't know what the issue is?
Many thanks in anticipation...
Is this a good question?
Hi Patrice,
It's the wifi model.
When plugged in the apple logo is shown and the disappears after a few seconds. This is repeated over and over and it will not boot up. If it is unplugged, nothing happens...suggesting to me it is not hold sufficient charge.
I did ensure the board was screwed down to the the battery contacts. I also replaced the on/sleep and volume switches and ribbon in case it was related to that, but the problem persists. Is there any was if putting a meter in in the battery to measure it as I can only assume it is not working properly (despite being recently bought - though it will have been tsjen from another unit.
I've ordered another battery and will see if that works.
Thanks
Gavin

Hi Antony & Gavin ( :) )
1) for not holding sufficient charge. If I am right , when the battery is fully depleted, and until it reaches the 2% the Ipad won't start up. You will only see the Battery icon with three red lines at its bottom suggesting that the Ipad is charging (supposed that you have plugged the Ipad to the lightning connector to charge it).
Only when the charge level reaches the 2% , then, the Ipad is supposed to have sufficient charge and the Apple logo appears as the Ipad starts up. So, in your case we can suppose that the batteries are charged at least with 2%.
The only exception with this way to proceed, involves the Ipads (reportingly) dedicated to the Chinese market.
2) for the batteries: I didn't ask you, as I supposed you bought the new battery pack on Ifixit site. But apparently not. I don't know who supplied you these batteries, but its possible that they are wrong. Let see what this will give with the new battery pack. Hopefuly this time you took a reliable supplier.
Good Luck
