Will just keep restarting when connected to itunes, possible problems?

My Iphone 3gs had some wine spilled on it and I have been trying to trouble shoot what I need to do to get it to back to working. I have dried out the phone in rice, and it has been over a week since it got wet.

The first problem is the battery, it won't turn on if it's not connected to a power source or a computer. When it's connected to a power source, the phone boots up and displays a message saying to connect to itunes. When I connect the phone to my laptop, it starts to boot up and then the screen will turn off again and will immediately start to boot up again. I have switched out the cables I have used to connect the phone to the computer.

Does anyone have suggestions of what could be the problem and what could be replaced to fix the problem?

If the phone has a bad battery, you will not be able to power it on (booting will give you the behavior you see, and you will get an error if you try to restore with iTunes).

You should try replacing the battery.

+ open and clean iphone thoroughly while you're replacing battery or the acidic nature of wine which is now vinegar will eat away at your phone. drying isn't enough...
