Has the screen been replaced before or phone been in contact with liquid?

That is either liquid has gone into the screen and seeped into the backlight area which is located under the LCD (liquid crystal display) causing those uneven colored marks in the areas where the liquid has set to.

Maybe it could be a bad quality replacement screen instead? but that's highly unlikely.

Its a bad screen. More specifically, it looks like a bad backlight. If you did the repair yourself, you can replace the backlight pretty easily. Otherwise, if you paid someone to fix it, they should swap the screen out for you.

That kind of damage usually comes from someone trying to force the screen in, cracking the backlight. These displays are getting thinner and more delicate, can't use much force at all with them now.
