iMac 2009, black screen, no chime, no pram reset executable

Hi

I have an intel Imac late 2009 Intel 21.5", the operating system is el Capitan 10.11.6.

For a few days the computer wasn't able to wake up from the resting state, the screen stayed black (I could hear the van, but it didn't react) and i had to turn it of by the Power button. But after booting it again, it worked fine.

So far ok.

Since a few days im not able to boot it. After putting the power button, there's no chime, i could hear the sound of the vans, but the screen stays black. I tried the SMC reset and the PRAM reset, it seems that there is no connection to the keyboard so the vans keep humming and there is no hearable sign of any change. I've also tried any commands while booting (like cmd+s,d,c), but nothing seems to happen.

Does anybody know why the screen stays black? Any Solutions how to fix it or which parts are responsible for that failure?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Unfortunately, when it comes to power, GPU, or board issues the only way we can troubleshoot moving forward is by attempting to provide power to the machine. The part number for the power supply that you are looking for 614-0445, search amazon and eBay for the most reputable seller with the lowest price to keep your costs down. Also, only buy from a seller who is offering a return policy. If it doesn't work, you'll just return it. Typically an $130 investment to see if your $600-$800 machine is salvageable. This is step 1 in the troubleshooting process.

The likely culprits here are either the power supply, GPU, or logic board. Leaning more towards the power supply side because the early aluminum iMacs are prone to power related issues. What happened before this started happening? A bad storm, drop/fall, etc?

@Mayer is attempting to have you do a System Management Control reset. The steps he's explaining are for a MacBook, but the scenario is the same. You performed the SMC reset, and it did not help in your situation.

Thank's. I'm not sure about the power supply. There haven't been any thunderstorm or anything special like that. Do you have any suggestions how i can differentiate between the possible problems? Is there a way how i can find out if it's the power supply, the GPU or the logic board?
