Ok so I have a 2012 F150 Lariat with the 5.0 four-wheel drive and when I'm idling my oil pressure wants to bottom out but I can keep it at about a thousand RPMs and the oil pressure does just fine any ideas on what it could be

ckat, I believe the oil pressure sending unit is located by the oil filter, not sure but may require large deep socket to remove or open end wrench, some times these sensors require a specialty socket, you will be able to tell once you have a look.

Check attached link for pic. of sensor so you will know what your looking for. Good luck.

I have a 2014 F150 STX with a 5.0 4x4

let me start by saying it’s not easy but I did it .

The oil sender is located behind the alternator that is on the drivers side of the engine . What you have to do is jack up your truck drivers side remove the front wheel , make sure you have good lighting because it’s in a dark area . As you lay on your back you can reach in the front part of the engine bay behind the alternator and unplug it . Then with a socket 3/8 drive you can unscrew it .

A small amount of oil comes out don’t panic like I did . Reverse to install . Sing a song to stay calm and it will go smoothly!

Good luck !
