Why is the dryer making a horrible noise

I have a frigidaire combo washer dryer, that is a few years old but hasn't been used a lot. The dryer developed a really bad sound metal on metal type scraping. When I looked inside the dryer I noticed there were two screws (out of 3) that had worked their way out of the center back (inside the dryer). Not sure if those screws were the cause of the noise or the result of it. I haven't tried doing towards fixing it for fear of making it worse.

Theresa, The 2 of the 3 screws that you have found may be the screws that hold the drum centered in the machine on the drums hub shaft. If you or a friend can reinsert and tighten the screws, do it and try machine.

If you put the screw/bolt in the hole and it just spins, this probably means that this fastener wash installed as a nut, lock washer and bolt to drum hub. In this case the machine will have to be disassembled and you may want to have a technician have a look and estimate repair. Good luck.

I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button.
