As Dan said it would help to know your exact machine but the 3,1 designation was used in the 2007 range.
I'd open it up remove the fans, blow them out and the vents are prone to clogging. It's also about time to replace the thermal paste. After we know your exact machine we can get you to the correct guides to show you how to do this.

Sorry my Mac is a macbook pro 15 2 core duos
Well that narrows it down to only 17 Core 2 Duo 15" machines. Please remove the battery, find the serial number and enter it in the link that Dan gave. I changed the icon to the A1226 which is close.

How about looking up your system here: EveryMac - Lookup. Once you find it paste the systems URL here so we can correctly ID what you have.
As to your problem, can you give us a bit more here. Like what happened did you drop it? Bang it? Or, spill something into it? Or, sit it down on a wet surface? The more you can tell us the better.
