Diagnosing a faulty DC in board

So, like an idiot, I spilled some water on my latop. It was turned off but charging at the time. I disconnected the charger, wiped it down and left it to dry for 12 hours. Now the charger won't charge the laptop. The magsafe doesn't light up when the charger is connected and the computer won't boot (the battery was empty when the computer turned itself off).

From poking around here it seems like a common issue with water damaged DC-in boards. Is there any way I can verify that this might be the problem or should I just send off for the part right now? Or any other ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

I doubt it would be the DC in board. Where did it spill on exactly on the laptop? Liquid would of seeped in through the gaps usually the air vents located near the bottom of the screen or the keyboard area.

Thanks for the reply! It hit the Q key and splashed in about a 2 key radius. I wiped it off and expected no issues because it really wasn't that much water. I can't ignore the timing of it though.

You will have to open it up and inspect the DC in board for any signs of water damage.

Usually white or green marks near components on board are signs of liquid damage.

Burn marks are another sign of it too showing a component is burnt.

Check the logic board too because if there is liquid damage on the charging circuit (a.k.a one-wire circuit).

There are videos on youtube from Louis Rossmann that goes into detail about troubleshooting and fixing liquid damage on mac book logic boards.

I'll open it up tomorrow and take a look. Thanks!
