Potential problems with replacing logic board?

I've got a water damaged iPhone 6. Sent it to Powerbook Medic in AL for possible repair and they sent it back saying that the logic board was not repairable (at no charge other than shipping... they seem like a good outfit).

So, I'm thinking of replacing the logic board. Seems a straightforward operation, but I'd like to check in with you folks first to see what kinds of issues I can expect.

Error 53?

Complete loss of whatever photos / data were on the phone?

Inability to work with my cell provider?

Possibly won't even solve the problem...

Something else entirely?

Thanks folks.

This is a belated answer so hopefully it can be of use to folks who search for and find this question.

The logic board, for all intents and purposes, IS the phone. Whatever data you have (had) will be lost when you change the board. When you replace a board, you have to get one that is iCloud unlocked and compatible with whatever carrier you are using. Additionally, if you want to retain TouchID functions, you have to get a Board & Home Button combo as they are paired together.

Ultimately, if this is about data recovery, then you have to repair the board enough to sync it to iTunes. When one shop fails to find the problem (or solution), you can always try another shop as sometimes a fresh set of eyes may find a different path. That said, not all boards are repairable - especially water damaged boards.

If this is about fixing the phone, then buying a replacement, pre-owned phone can be about the same cost, minus the hassle, of finding a matched board/button depending on your geography.
