Why is phone overheating and will not turn on?

I replaced the screen and battery to my iPhone 5s. It worked great during the day. However by the end of the day the phone got really hot and died. It won't charge or turn on now

I replaced the screen because it was cracked. The battery was replaced because it was draining quick.

Heating up is a symptom of a problem with the logic board, commonly after water damage. What was the reason you had to replace your battery and screen?
