Can someone Help with MacBook Pro super drive?

Hi there, So I tried to replace my macbook pro mid 2010 Optical drive with a 2012 optical drive that I got of ebay and it didn't work. The seller said it should be compatiable with all 13 inch macbook pro models. But nothing! Then I tried an optical drive from a mid 2009 Macbook pro I have and nothing. Cold there be a problem? Or do I need a mid 2010 macbook pro optical drive?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

mmm ... Something doesn't sound right here.

The part you need is this one: Super Drive - Apple P/N 661-5502 as you can see Apple has used a few different part numbers over the years for this drive and if you look at PowerBook Medic's listing I've posted here on compatibility you'll see the Mid 2009 drive should have worked here.

I think you have other problems. Can you give us some background on what happened.

Thanks for your reply! Its a Macbook pro I got of Ebay that didn't have a hard drive or optical drive. I spoke with a local Apple authorized dealer and he said something might be wrong with the logic board if the exact 2010 apple optical drive doesn't work. The problem is to diagnose cost 60 dollars. I ordered another optical drive from july 2010
