How to fix or replace bent charging pins?

I've tried Googling part replacement, but I'm not finding anything for this specific model.

This tablet belongs to one of my special ed students, and I'm really hoping I can fix it for less than $60 (the Amazon asking price for a new model)

To be clear - it's the pins inside the charging port. They're bent various ways, and when I try plugging a standard micro-usb android charging cable in to the port, it doesn't rest - likely because of the bent pins.

Does not seem to be charging.

I am borrowing it from one of my special ed students... again, hoping I can fix it for cheap, but I'm not having luck finding parts on ebay or google

Chosen Solution

Eoghan, Small tweezers, toothpick, jewelers screw driver or something like that, should enable yo to straighten the pins in charge port. I have had success in the past using one of the heavier type tooth picks.

Good luck.

I was able to make most of them pretty straight - just in the center... but when I tried putting the cord in, they got all bent up again. I've also tried Google searching what the inside of a tablet charger port should look like, as well as looking at my brother's tablet (different brand, didn't help)... and still at a loss of how they should be bent

Are they supposed to be along the backside/top? Or bottom? Or just pointing forward in the middle?

Eoghan, I had no luck finding a pic. of your charging port, sounds like the port is missing a piece that may hold/ align the contacts, maybe take it into a small computer repair shop, have the take a look, ask them if it is standard charge port, get an estimate on repair or see if they have a replacement port for you to solder in.
