Why do cycle end light flash

In the middle of a drying cycle (that otherwise seems normal) the Cycle End warning lights and the beeper start going off sequentially. This lasts about a minute then stops for a minute and continues to start and stop until the timed cycle ends. After this the Drier will not restart until after it sits for about an hour
