Can I mount a USB flash drive?

I have a flash drive with an Android plug but me phone will not recognize it. What do I have to do to correct this. Android version: 4.4.2

Hi,

To connect a USB flash drive you need to use a compatible OTG cable (On the Go) between the USB flash drive and the phone.

The OTG cable 'tells' the phone to turn on in 'host' mode so that it will provide power to the USB flash drive, enabling it to function.

Normally the phone's USB is in 'device' mode, where no power is supplied by the phone.

Hi,

What is the make and model of the flash drive? Has it only got the micro USB connection or does it also have the standard USB connection at the other end? If it hasn't got the 'sense' connection wired in the plug(s) (and I don't think that it will, otherwise it would work, but try it and see) then you need to get an OTG cable to connect the drive.

The flash drive I have has a micro usb male plug on one end. Can I just plug it into the phone..
