How do I replace the flex cable of the LCD touch screen?

I accidentally tore the flex cable that connects the touch screen to the mother board. I found some flex cables on internet for sale and was wondering how to replace just that? The screen was working fine till this happened.

Options

Not really possible with DIY equipment, just give up and replace the whole screen.
