Screen issues keeping me from my work! Help!

The screen jumps at some times but the 100's of very thin horizontal lines take up 3/4's of the screen so I'm unable to do anything on it!!!! Opened it up one morning and it was like that. The computer came with Windows 10, I'm thinking that it had an upgrade the night before but not sure. HELP!!!!!! I've only had it about a year, I'd hate to have to spend a ton of money again for a repair. Hoping someone can help.

Hi,

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop's HDMI port and see what the display is like.

If it displays OK then you either have a faulty video cable, a faulty video cable connection at either end (motherboard or screen) or a faulty LCD screen.

If it displays the same as the laptop's screen, then you either have a GPU problem (most probably CPU as they are integrated) or a motherboard problem.

You say that you have only had it about a year. Verify when you purchased it and if it is less than 1 year from date of purchase (and if it was only 2-3 weeks past I would still try) then consult the warranty documentation that came with the laptop as to what you have to do to obtain a warranty repair or replacement.

If the warranty is no longer valid (and they won't help you, warranty wise) and the problem appears to be not CPU/ motherboard related, here is a link to the service manual for your laptop which may assist you in opening the laptop and allowing you to check connections etc.
