Why did smoke come out of my phone?

So basically, my phone wasnt turning on after repeatedly trying to turn it on by holding the power button. It had a weird glitch that it would automatically shut off every time that i set it down on something or the back hit my hand too fast or something like that. Now when I took off the back, the battery pack released smoke. It still charges, but it wont turn on. Help please?
