High pitch squeal noise wile doing cycle

Does any one now what causes a high pitch squeal noise when a LG dishwasher is running its cycle? It is very frustrating and I need to fix it but don't know what is causing it. I thought that there was just some dirt in the pump so I flushed it out and ran a empty load with just water and vinegar to clean it out and it still does it.

Hi, Does it happen during the 'filling' action, the 'washing' action or the 'draining' action.

Filling could be sound of water through the inlet valve, washing could be the pump and not sure with your model but draining could be the drain pump. Some brands/models have two pumps - washing and draining.

Mine is only a month old, told that it needs to be broken in and recirculation pump noise will go away?

by

Mine will be one year… it started from the beginning… guessing I need to call for service

by

I had the same problem . Then I noticed it didn’t make the high pitched sound, when I ran it empty, while cleaning . After weeks of testing I determined that moving the dish, on bottom rack, inward by one slot, away from left wall made the noise disappear There is a jet or something, in the wall on the left side that the dish interferes

I have always used the cascade platinum in my dishwasher. We have had it for four years and over the last year it has been doing this whistling sound through several stages. It is very annoying. I wish I could find a reason why it is doing what it is. Any solutions other than noted?

Most likely is: The circulation pump motor has bearings that wear out over time. When the motor bearings fail, they generate a continuous drone. If the motor bearings have failed, you must replace the entire circulation pump.

Ok I was told by LG that my new dishwasher has to be broken in and the noise from circulation pump will go away over time? Is this a line of bull?

by

lewis, how old is it now? I would ask for a link to LG that actually states this in writing.

by

It is just over a month old now, don't see any decrease in noise, tech said he Will replace pump if dont get better.

Mine is three years old and just started the noise within the last month or so. Very high pitched, almost a ringing in my ears. I can’t stand to run it during the day.

Guessing build up or a belt or something caught in it. Not really sure.

It may have to do with buildup of residue (soap scum, scale, lime, etc.) in the recirculation system. I contacted LG about this on numerous occasions and they advised running white vinegar or a commercial cleaner through the system. I tried both vinegar and commercial cleaners numerous times, with no positive results. Then, quite by accident, we switched dishwashing detergent from Cascade liquid to Cascade Platinum pods with Dawn. After about a month using the pods, the dishwasher is as quiet as it was when it was new, with absolutely no whistling.

I was told the same thing by lg .

Maybe I will try Dawn.

I know one thing if this is normal for this dishwasher I never would have bought it because it is very annoying

by

I also have the whistling. Just bought the pods to see if that helps. When I reinstalled the dishwasher a month ago I noticed the recirculation tub was all orange which might have been some sort of residue buildup
