Use a screen from a 2011 15" MacBook Pro on a 2012?

I have found several eBay auctions for new screens for a friend's busted screen on his 2012 unibody. Some of them mention that it will work on either the 2011 or 2012 model. I happen to have a working 2011 screen at home I can install, but I don't want to take the whole thing apart if it's not going to work.

Can I use a 2011 screen on the 2012 model?

Yes, provided the 2012 model is an A1286 (which it will be if it is the mid 2012 model) and not a A1398 (The late 2012 model) then it will use the same LCD assembly as the 2011 model

Sweet. That is what I think as well, based on reading the replacement guides for both the 2011 and the 2012 A1286 models. Thanks for the validation!
