Can I run Final Cut Pro X?

Hello,

I'm going to get a 2.1 ghz C2D MacBook (white) with a broken keyboard for 40$. I can just use it with an external keyboard. But, the main reason I want a Mac is to run Final Cut Pro X. Obviously I'm not going to be editing 1080p video, but just to tinker with and figure out how to use. I have a copy of Final Cut Pro X 10.0.8 that I tested on another Mac. So, would this MacBook run Final Cut Pro? Or should I just get a Mac mini and upgrade the CPU?

Sadly, no.

The issue here is systems hardware, a full 64bit platform is required to run Final Cut Pro X.

You'll need a i5 or i7 CPU based system running Mavericks or newer.

I thought this was 64-bit?

Here's the specs for your system: MacBook Core 2 Duo. Jump down to Pre-installed MacOS, review the comment on the CPU & EFI details.

@danj That's not the right one though, that's a 2.0ghz MacBook 2,1 and mine is a 2.1ghz MacBook 4,1.

Also, why won't this run el captain/Yosemite/Sierra? It has a 64bit EFI and CPU

OK here's the corrected models specs: MacBook 13" 2.1 GHz Core 2 Duo

You still face the limits of the hardware and what OS-X the system can support. Sorry ;-{
