Why does my car still smoke?

Car suddenly started smoking, checked sparkplugs and had oil in one of them. Had to replace the valve cover, but the car is still smoking from tailpipe. Looks like white smoke. There is nothing abnormal with the oil or radiator. What should I try next? Thanks for a quick reply.

Nile, Could be bad valve seals if oil level is not going down noticeably. Have a compression and compression leak down test done on engine, the results from that will help diagnose compression issues or lack of which could cause smoking issue, internal engine coolant leaks will also be detected/checked with this test. Check the attached link, instruction and guide and diagnosing, Good luck

Thanks so much for the helpful answer. I forgot to mention that the compression was 155 on all 4 cylinders. Does that change your answer?

You can also check your PVC/ line to see if it is sucking oil there, compression sounds good and even on all cylinders, but simple compression test is not the same as a compression leak down test, more info. can be had. Check and read the link to see the info. to be had when performing this test. Good Luck.
