I have iMac 21.5" late-2012 with 1TB SATA drive. It would be great to install an extra SSD drive parallel to HDD. 200 GB would be enough. Can you suggest any suitable models of blade SSD please?

Will take to official apple service to upgrade

I have one more question about installing windows on an external drive so I could use it with any Mac I have. Is it possible at all? I have tried, but it didn't work out. OS-X doesn't allow installing on external drives.

Options

OWC is the only one who offers a compatible blade SSD for this system other than using a real Apple blade SSD (which would be expensive): OWC SSD SSD Upgrades of iMac 21.5" 2012 — Early 2013.

As to your question on Windows that is correct you can't install it on an external drive and have it work under OS-X.
