Disconnect your battery and your display. Use 99% IPA to clean and a plastic brush (toothbrush is fine) to scrub. Don't be shy with the IPA, it will evaporate fast. I won't use anything other than 99% on boards, the risk of doing damage is just too high.

I am curious why you need to clean your board though. Have a little spill? :)

I thank U for Ur most helpful response. The battery started to swell. It caused the top to become loose. I was fearful of damage so i removed the bottom screws. I purchased a battery on e/bay, not a generic, but I still saved a lot of money. I held the top plate secure w/ rubberbands until I got up the nerve to replace the old battery. I successfully replaced the battery but I wanted to get rid of any dust or glue residue that might have gotten inside while it had been so loosely held together. Again, my thanks to U Josh, Kathleen

Hey Josh, What would U recommend to clean the inside of my top glass? I as yet haven't replaced the bottom screws on the phone so it should not be a problem to expose the underside of the glass? Do U think a few shots of canned air would work maybe? The underside of the glass is very dusty and has some dirt spots. Thanks in advance, Kathleen

the underside of the glass is pretty forgiving. I use Zeiss LCD cleaner but you can use anything.

I personally avoid air because they put stuff in it to prevent huffing and that stuff can leave streaks.

Try using a lint free microfiber cleaning cloth and qtips to remove dust and other stuff inside. If you can get 92%+ alcohol, a small hobby/paint brush, jewelers loupe (20x) and an anti-static cloth that will probably way more effective. Use the brush to gently brush on the alcohol, use the cloth to blot away any debris, and use your loupe to check where you cleaned. Don't scrub, just smoothly wipe the brush in a small section and blot. Just remember POWER OFF YOUR PHONE. (And eventually, remove your battery).
