My remote is not responding to TV, changed batteries

My remote is not responding correctly to TV. When you press the remote to Channel or volume it automatically goes to the highest volume, and the channel just goes up continually without stopping

linda241067 I am a bit confused by the interactions on here. Just to clarify, your TV "goes to the highest volume, and the channel just goes up" regardless of which remote you use? The remote from your TV does work on other TV's. The remotes from another TV do not work on your TV (same issue). Am I correct with this?

Linda, Reprogram your remote to your TV, you can google search your remote for instruction if need be. If no luck, pick your self up a good universal remote, read packaging to be sure it is compatible with your device.

Hi,

Use a digital camera or the camera app of a mobile phone to test your remote control.

To do this just point the remote at the camera (or phone), press, in your case, the volume or channel button and check if you if can "see" a flash at the front end of the remote when looking at the camera (or phone) display. The flash should cease when you release the button. If it doesn't then the button may be sticking and needs to be cleaned. Try another button which works OK to see the difference.

Here is a link that shows how to clean the remote control buttons.

Hopefully this is of some help.

Hi,

Does the same thing occur when you use the CH+ and Ch- or the Vol+ and Vol- buttons on the TV itself?

If not it points to a problem with the IR (infra red) circuitry in the TV.

Are you having any problems with any of the other "function" buttons at all, not the channel number buttons e.g. subtitles or programme guide, if you press a button and the function appears and then disappears - like you have pressed the button twice but you only pressed it once. Again if this test doesn't function properly it points to an IR problem.

You could try a "reset" and see if that works. Unplug the TV from the power outlet, then press and hold the Power button on the TV for about 30 seconds, then release the button. Reconnect the power and switch on the TV and see if there is any change.
