Why is my laptop screen showing boxes of colorful pixels and black?

I was using my laptop and I accidentally bumped into the bottom left corner of it while reaching for something. All of a sudden, the screen turned into boxes of mulit colored pixels and black. What happened to it? How do I fix this?

Can you provide the model of your laptop please. Also, a screenshot could be helpful to show us whats going if you can. How hard did you "bump" it? Is screen cracked? It could also be a dislodge cable or you could have caused some damage? Is there physical damage to the laptop?

Are you able to restart the machine? I would try this first although it may not help at all.

Connect it to an external monitor.

If the image in the external monitor is showing same weird stuff, your vga propably got damaged, so you will need to repair it to a local store.

If the image in the external monitor is normal, you will need to:

re-seat the connector on the mainboard or

re-seat the connector on the monitor.

If you're lucky enough the image will come back, else you will need a new monitor for your laptop.
